EVOLVE BOXING AND KAPITI BOXING CLUB HAVE JOINED FORCES TO PRESERVE THE RICH HISTORY OF BOXING FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
OUR STORY
Evolve Boxing is a club rich in knowledge and extensive experience, anchored by the esteemed Richard (Dickie) Fleetwood, who is well-known for his illustrious career as both an amateur and professional boxer that spanned from 1950 to 1961. Following his remarkable boxing career, Dickie transitioned into a prominent and successful coaching role in the Wellington area. Dickie dedicated himself to sharing his deep expertise and unwavering passion for the sport with both his children and grandchildren.
In 2001, Dickies son Richard (Richie) Fleetwood, together with Erwin Tooby, took the initiative and started Kapiti Boxing Club and was joined not long after by Wayne Spratt and Keith Bullock. All these men having the noble intention of passing on their profound love for boxing, along with their valuable knowledge of the sport, to the next generation.
For over 20 years, with the help of many Coaches, Committee Members, and supporters, Kapiti Boxing Club has had many successes. Revieing and looking ahead to the future of boxing on the Kapiti Coast, we are excited to launch Evolve Boxing on the Kapiti Coast.
This innovative partnership with Kapiti Boxing Club aims to provide more focused and tailored support for our community, enabling generations to learn and share the invaluable skills and rich traditions passed down from Dickie Fleetwood and other coaches.
