KAPITI BOXING CLUB
PRESERVING THE RICH HISTORY OF BOXING FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
ABOUT KAPITI BOXING CLUB
Kapiti Boxing Club has been a cornerstone of boxing on the Kapiti Coast for over two decades, built on discipline, community, and a deep respect for the sport. The club’s foundations are strongly influenced by the legacy of Richard “Dickie” Fleetwood, an accomplished amateur and professional boxer from 1950 to 1961 and a highly respected coach in the Wellington region who dedicated his life to passing on boxing knowledge and values.
In 2001, Dickie’s son, Richard “Richie” Fleetwood, alongside Erwin Tooby, founded Kapiti Boxing Club to preserve this rich boxing heritage and develop future generations of boxers. With the support of committed coaches, committee members, and supporters, the club has achieved continued success both in and out of the ring.
Today, Kapiti Boxing Club partners with Evolve Boxing to carry this legacy forward, combining tradition with a modern training environment to ensure the knowledge, culture, and history of the club continue to thrive for generations to come.
